RESTOCK (Pollen Season) Before three members of Long Legged Woman packed up and left Athens for San Francisco (leaving Gabe to turn folkie), they recorded what seems like both a farewell and an introduction. Finally seeing a proper release more than a year later, Nobody Knows This is Nowhere (note the Neil Young nod, also not a bad reference point if you know your Rust) bashes heads with gritty ecstasy, picking up on the youthful abandon heard in today's weirdpunk bands like Eat Skull, yet somehow remains tied to the South... the sweltering, delirious and wonderful South. And dammit if that doesn't make me happy.

This is the regular edition, same great music: different design, two-color screenprint on raw kraft folders, still DIY style.

I Heart Lung / DWMTG- Ecstatic Jazz Duos LP

Second installment in the series. I Heart Lung (Chris Schlarb: guitar, Tom Steck: drums) pummels through three symphonies for riots on the A-side, taking cues from Yes, "In the Hall of the Mountain King" and Sonny Sharrock. Side B features the band Thurston Moore named his favorite bass/drums duo a few years back: DWMTG (Dale W. Miller: drums, Tony Gordon: bass). They run through 10 scrambling miniatures with a smart sense of humor you don't hear much in free-improv these days.
