I’m all moved into the new place and relocated a third of the stock into a closet. And soon enough, the rest will go into storage. The moving sale will end this Friday, Aug. 20, and I just put up a button to buy the whole Thor’s Rubber Hammer catalog for $90 PPD.

After two blissful years with a spacious basement as Thor’s Rubber Hammer HQ, the landlord’s giving us the heave-ho to renovate the house (no hard feelings, promise). I’ll be moving into a much smaller space, so I need to unload a ton of merch. The whole TRHP catalog is more or less half-off with a few distro items getting the sale treatment, too.

“macmac” at one of our favorite college radio stations had this to say about Beru’s What Would I Do Without You:

Jessica Collins, Beru, mixes her acoustic guitar songs, simple and haunting, with layered male/ female choruses, with pounds of reverb and delay, plus spontaneus noise spurts and changes into new themes. Overall its a dark, bittersweet, and at times frightening. Jessica voice is fragile and demure, and with the lo-fi recording style you can imagine her recording in the middle of a forest, maybe being taunted by a black metal band also sharing the same grassy knoll.

Blastitude Names Wasteland Jazz Unit One Of The Best LPs Of 2009

Larry Dolman always puts up Blastitude’s Best-Of list four or five months after the fact, but we always looked forward to it. Dude’s got an ear for skronk, dub and garage-rock that keep our ears glued on. So we’re pretty stoked that he took a liking to one of our Ecstatic Jazz Duos records, specifically the Wasteland Jazz Unit side:

Wasteland Jazz Unit is the reason I finally put this one on, after being scorched by one of their CDR releases. They’re a sax and clarinet duo from Cincinnati, and seriously, I’ve said it before, but these two guys overload their instruments with breath and amplification and lay down long sustained fields of desolation that only Borbetomagus has gotten to. Having them on vinyl alone makes this worth the pick-up…
